中华文明与海盗文化（或一些将旧约圣经视作有效地契的游牧文化）相比之下有很多不同之处，其中最基本的可能是自我认知和取向。大概由于没有一个臭脾气的「造物主」指挥之故，中国人较务实，心底里清楚自己是一群贪、嗔、痴、慢、疑俱全，虚荣心超标的群居动物，所以一直会有人思考和不断实验各种理论基础与社会制度，目的是制衡人性弱点、改良群体本质。经过几千年的努力，老实说效果不佳。逆习性洪流行舟很费劲，成效起落无常，不过聊胜于无；日子有功，不少大智大慧不知不觉成了老生常谈，深入民间基因，多少有些影响。而无论道佛儒的哲理或近代进口的马克思，都起码提供了一个文明前进的目标和方向。
美国作为海盗文化的现代堂主，取向与中国人相反。他们似乎不知道、不接受或不理会自己实实在在的人性黑暗面，非但不致力改善，反而用尽一切狡猾手段去美化、强化和利用智人的贪婪、自私、虚荣来谋权图利，同时对自己的庞大诈骗与威吓能力沾沾自喜。政客们为了满足四年一幕的短暂个人野心而不顾整体利益，种下大量恶果，是非常短浅危险的做法，随时要全人类一起埋单。
A fundamental difference between Chinese civilisation and American culture is that the Chinese know we’re a bunch of greedy, selfish, arrogant and vain Homo sapiens, and have over the millennia experimented and devised philosophical justifications and social instruments to contain and improve the dark side of human nature without inventing a fractious god. The results have been pitiful and erratic, but nonetheless progressive, albeit at the pace of a stiff snail.
The Americans don’t seem to recognise or care that they’re a bunch of scumbag Homo sapiens. Instead of endeavouring to contain and improve collective weaknesses, they exploit senseless greed, selfishness, vanity, and other human faults through deceit, corruption, dumbing down propaganda and marketing, and military threats to gain profit and power. Short term vision and ruthless ambitions have made them increasingly dangerous to themselves and others.
